Grace Blakely is absolutely certain of three things:
1. She is not crazy.
2. Her mother was murdered.
3. Someday she is going to find the killer and make him pay.
As certain as Grace is about these facts, nobody else believes her — so there’s no one she can completely trust. Not her grandfather, a powerful ambassador. Not her new friends, who all live on Embassy Row. Not Alexei, the Russian boy next door, who is keeping his eye on Grace for reasons she neither likes nor understands.
Everybody wants Grace to put on a pretty dress and a pretty smile, blocking out all her unpretty thoughts. But they can’t control Grace — no more than Grace can control what she knows or what she needs to do. Her past has come back to hunt her . . . and if she doesn’t stop it, Grace isn’t the only one who will get hurt. Because on Embassy Row, the countries of the world stand like dominoes, and one wrong move can make them all fall down.
Before All Fall Down, I had never read an Ally Carter book *hides*. Everyone (including my best friend) loves her books. I picked up All Fall Down so I could say I had read an Ally Carter book. I will admit that I went into this book with immense expectations. I had always heard of Ally Carter’s wonderful books; All Fall Down didn’t exactly live up to it. The characters felt a bit bland and mixed together for me.
However, I REALLY enjoyed the narrator. Grace is an unreliable narrator which is one of my favorite things in a book. I love when you don’t know who to trust⎯especially the main character. The ending was also quite a clever cliff-hanger. I’m probably going to be picking up the sequel soon! I was actually able to meet Ally at the North Texas Teen Book Festival, and she was really lovely!
Overall, I would rate this book a 3.5/5 stars. All Fall Down was a pretty good book, but I felt like the book was missing something. Are there any other Ally Carter books I need to put on my summer TBR? Let me know down below!
i’m sorry this book didn’t live up to your expectations! i really enjoyed it. i do recommend you try ally carter’s gallagher girls series, i definitely preferred those myself. she’s a phenomenal writer.
